The Killing of Sister George focuses on Sister George, a large, lusty, foul-tempered woman who is the star of a BBC radio serial, but is about to lose her job because the show’s ratings are slipping. In the serial, Sister George is the perfect nurse – caring, helpful and warm-hearted. June Buckridge who plays the character is something else altogether. She is a shrewish woman who speaks her uncensored mind and lords it over her childlike adult flatmate, nicknamed Childie.
